APBA has joined the European Technology Platform ALICE in order to be part of the breakthroughs reached in the field of the Physical Internet.
ALICE, officially launched in 2013, was created to develop an innovation, research and implementation strategy in logistics, in particular when it comes to the supply chain within Europe. Its aim is to reach a more sustainable and competitive industry. A goal has been set to achieve a 30% improvement in logistic operations by 2030.
Research is focused on creating new concepts where collaboration and coordination continue to be reinforced and result in the Physical Internet – this means that collaborating and coordinating supply chains is carried out both horizontally and vertically. There are 5 working groups within ALICE, 4 of which have a strong influence on operational excellence, the concept of Port Collaborative Decision Making (Port CDM) and a future with an operational orchestration platform in the Port of Algeciras. Said working groups are: WG1 (Sustainable Safe and Secure Supply Chains), WG2 (Corridors, Hubs and Synchromodality), WG3 (Information Systems for Interconnected Logistics), WG4 (Supply Chain Coordination and Collaboration) and WG5 (Urban Logistics). APBA actively participates in WG2 and, particularly, in the Smart Ports group, together with Valencia, Antwerp and Hamburg, among others.
Currently, the following members stand out: the ports of Valencia and Barcelona, CDTI, ZLC, Grupo Sesé, KALEIDO, GS1 Spain, ITENE, CNC-Logística, etc. and, internationally, the port of Rotterdam, Hutchison Ports (ECT Rotterdam), P&G, L’Oréal, ESC, CLECAT, SCANIA, Fraunhofer, etc.
APBA’s participation in ALICE will promote collaboration with universities and ongoing provision of updates about innovation while working with the main stakeholders of the logistics industry within the EU.
Progressive research on the Physical Internet will also be a key point, for its results will be directly applied to the specific scenario of the Port of Algeciras. In addition, ALICE will support the implementation of the EU’s Research and Innovation Programme «Horizon Europe 2020».

La APBA se adhiere a la Plataforma Tecnológica ALICE
La APBA se ha adherido recientemente a la Plataforma Tecnológica Europea ALICE, con el objetivo de formar parte de los avances que se lleven a cabo en el ámbito del physical internet.
La plataforma ALICE, lanzada oficialmente en 2013, fue creada para desarrollar una estrategia que incluye el despliegue de la investigación, innovación e implementación en el mercado de la logística y la cadena de suministro dentro de Europa con el fin de alcanzar una industria más sostenible y competitiva. El objetivo es contribuir a una mejora del 30% en la actuación logística para 2030.
La investigación que se lleva a cabo está enfocada en la creación de nuevos conceptos, dentro de los cuales, la colaboración y coordinación, que son cada vez mayores, acaben resultando en la Internet Física (physical internet), donde se lleva a cabo una colaboración en la cadena de suministro de forma horizontal y vertical. Dentro de la plataforma hay 5 grupos de trabajo, donde 4 de ellos tienen un impacto importante en la excelencia operativa, el concepto de Port CDM y el futuro de una plataforma de orquestación de operaciones en el Puerto de Algeciras. Esto son: WG1. Sustainable logistic supply chains; WG2. Corridors, hubs and synchromodality; WG3. Systems & Technologies for Interconnected Logistics; WG4. Global Supply Network Coordination and Collaboration.
Actualmente, destaca la presencia de los puertos de Valencia y Barcelona, el CDTI, ZLC, Grupo Sesé, KALEIDO, GS1 Spain, ITENE, CNC-Logística, etc. y a nivel internacional, destaca la presencia del Puerto de Rotterdam, Hutchison Ports (ECT Rotterdam), P&G, L’Oréal, ESC, CLECAT, SCANIA, Fraunhofer, etc.
Esta adhesión permitirá a la APBA fomentar la colaboración con las Universidades y estar al día de la innovación a la vez que se colabora con los principales stakeholders del sector logístico a nivel europeo, avanzando con la investigación del physical internet, cuyos casos de uso o de estudio podrán ser aplicados directamente a las necesidades y realidad del Puerto Bahía de Algeciras. Además, desde la Plataforma se dará apoyo y ayudará a la implementación del Programa de la UE para la investigación: Horizonte 2020.
